Q-Poll: Upstate Ready for Democratic State Senate

By 9 Point Margin, Upstate New Yorkers Favor Senate Democratic Majority

Date: Thursday, June 12th, 2008

Canton, NY - June O'Neill, Chair of the NYS Democratic Party released the following statement on the results of today's Quinnipiac Poll finding that New Yorkers overall and Upstate New Yorkers in particular favor a Democratic take-over of the New York State Senate.

"New Yorkers - particularly upstaters - want change in the State Senate in November. After decades of job loss under Joe Bruno's Senate Republican majority, Upstate New Yorkers are embracing tough, smart upstate Democrats like Darrel Aubertine to bring about change and finally get upstate's economy moving again."

"Working with Governor Paterson and their Assembly colleagues, upstate Senate Democrats are putting the region's economic revitalization front and center - and voters are responding."

"Darrel Aubertine's election signaled that Democrats can compete and win in every corner of New York State and this poll confirms it. We have an allstar roster of candidates and look forward to continuing to pick up seats all across New York in November."
